JAPN 300 Intro to Advanced Communication

It continues development of proficiency in interpersonal, interpretive and presentational modes of communication in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students develop communication strategies and cultural knowledge to prepare for advanced courses. Taught in Japanese.
Narrative
This class put an emphasis on learning new grammar, kanji, and vocabulary. We also learned about Japanese culture that related to the vocabulary and kanji that we were studying at the time. Learning Japanese culture in tandem is important for a language such as Japanese because of the context that is required to properly use Japanese in a real world situation. JAPN 300 was the first upper division language course for Japanese, and that became very apparent with the amount of homework we received. One of the most challenging assignments for me personally was a presentation. Creating an effective power point and a well written script in Japanese was a fun challenge.
