Welcome!
Hello to anyone who is reading this! My name is Andrew Elisalde. I am currently a senior at California State University Monterey Bay majoring in Japanese Language and Culture. This is my E-Portfolio, which allows me to analyze my experiences at CSUMB, set my goals, and also showcase my experience to others. I also have a chance to show off all of my pictures of course.
I was born in Fresno California in 1992, but a few years later I moved to Oklahoma with my family. There I spent nearly 18 years of my life. I returned to California to attend college and study Japanese at California State University Monterey Bay. There are many instances where I felt culture shock while living in California. Just walking around campus I felt like I was in a different country. I've adjusted to California for the most part, but while there is no language barrier a cultural difference can be felt everywhere. I really enjoy the fact that California and Oklahoma are very different from each other. I find it fun to compare little differences. Through CSU Monterey Bay's international program I was very fortunate to have had the chance to study abroad in Japan. I studied at the University of Shiga Prefecture for my junior year of college. There I was able to fully experience a culture and language that is much different from my own. I can proudly say that Oklahoma, California, and Shiga Japan are all part of who I am today. Each place that I have called home holds a special place in my heart.
